While we all love buying dresses for Prom and Homecoming, not all girls are able to afford a brand new dress each year. Have you ever considered donating your old or unwanted dresses?
Now that the school year is over, take some time to look through your closet, and consider donating any dresses you don’t plan on wearing again. There are organizations across the country accepting donations of prom, homecoming, sweet 16, and quinceanera dresses. By donating your previously worn dress, you are offering it a new life, with a new owner, and another night for it to shine!
Just think of how excited you were to wear your formal dress for the first time, and imagine how much happiness it would bring another to have that feeling as well. Visit DonateMyDress.org to find a donation center near you, or just check online for stores in your area that might hold donation collections. Organizations like Cinderella’s Closet, Princess Project, or Becca’s Closet are great places to check out. Even local institutions like synagogues or churches often have clothing closets that accept anything you’re able to give.
Donation centers accept dresses of any size or style, but are looking for gowns in good condition. Some prefer new dresses, from the past 6 years or so, but most are willing to take anything you have to offer. Giving away your dress will free up some space in your closet and offer someone else the chance to feel amazing at their formal! You’ll feel great doing this good deed knowing you’ve helped another.
