The Princess Dress

With a new year means that it's time for Awards Season! Yesterday, Sunday January 8, 2017 marked the HFPA's 74th Golden Globe Awards ceremony, and the night was so much fun, from the red carpet to the awards show. The ceremony honored the best in film and television from 2016 and took place at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. This year, Jimmy Fallon hosted, and awards were given out for all types of movies and shows, from "La La Land" to "The Crown." Meryl Streep even received a lifetime achievement award!

But, that's enough on the actual event. It's time to get to the good stuff: the red carpet, of course! With prom season just around the corner, the Golden Globes red carpet is a prime place for prom dress ideas, and the 2017 Golden Globes certainly didn't disappoint.

While there were so many prom perfect trends on the red carpet, from plunging necklines to sparkly sequins, there were two celebrities that absolutely blew us away with their dresses. Those two celebrities were Lily Collins and Lola Kirke! They both gave off absolute princess vibes in their pink ball gowns, and we couldn't be more obsessed. See what they wore below and how you can rock their looks for prom.

All we can say is OMG! Actress and model Lily Collins knows how to walk a red carpet in style with her beautifully elegant pink lace ball gown. She topped it off perfectly for a classic princess look with dark red lipstick.

Get Lily's elegant pink princess look with Sherri Hill 50844. This ball gown features a fitted, satin bodice that has an illusion plunge neckline, sheer modesty panel, and U-shaped back. The Internet basically blew up this week when everyone saw what actress Lily James wore on the red carpet for the premiere of movie Cinderella. With a fairy tale like Cinderella that's all about the dress and shoes that the main character wears, transforming her on the outside into the princess that she is inside, it was of course without question that we were excited to see what the actress who plays Cinderella, Lily, would wear for the premiere of her film. But, with red carpet looks rarely ever holding the theme of the movie or event, we weren't holding our breath. Much to our (happy) surprise, Lily James looked exactly like Cinderella walking the red carpet for the premiere of the Disney movie! Check her out in all her beauty below!

The beautifully adorned dress dress by Elie Saab had Lily looking like she should be floating in the air! This red carpet look truly shows that she is Cinderella and makes us so excited to see the film. Plus, she wore Christian Louboutin high heels that basically looked like glass slippers. Could the outfit be any more perfect? Oh wait.. it can be... She even accessorized with a clock purse by Charlotte Olympia! Because... when the clock strikes midnight...

Lily James' red carpet look was so perfect from every aspect! Since it's such a unique dress (and accessories), this is one that's hard to copy for prom. But, we have your back! While there isn't an exact prom dress that mimics Lily's look, there are a few that take cues from it. And, there are even some shoes and purses that take cues from Lily's outfit! We have such an exciting prom dress story to share with you from one of our customers! Roo Girl Tori Springer had her senior prom this year, and on her search for her perfect prom dress while on a serious budget, she came to Rissy Roo's for help. Here's her story that her mom and dad, Mary and Vince, sent to us about them having some prom fun with her daughter:

Dear Shelly,

My daughter Tori's senior prom was May 17th and with her father's recent operation and all that goes with that, we were on a serious dress budget. We looked all over (but knowing you had the best dresses) we went in to check your sale items and then she tried on the Papparazzi dress and fell in love with it. Sadly, we left without it and although she was understanding, I knew from that moment on, no other dress could compare for her. Thinking about this being her last prom and her upcoming scoliosis surgery, it was only right that we do something to make her night extra special. I just want to thank you so much when you came over to us that day, and offered the 10% discount, that really made a difference. Below is a link to how we presented it to her (had to trick her a little :) and some photos of her in it. We also have a 13 year old daughter, and I know there's only one dress shop we'll be going to in the future,

We have a very special picture to share with you today from one of our Roo Girls, Kimberly Sarno! Kimberly's 30th birthday was this year, and she decided to celebrate it in style by going to Disney World with her friends! Of course, going to Disney World also means you have to look the part of a princess, and we were so honored that Kimberly helped us find her perfect birthday party princess dress!

She wrote:

Frozen, the latest movie from Disney Animation Studios has everyone of all ages laughing and singing! Ever since the DVD release on March 18th, people everywhere are catching the Frozen buzz. Not only did this movie win the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, but the song "Let it go," performed by the voice of Elsa by Idina Menzel is a spectacular hit and is even now a cover song performed by Demi Lovato!
