  • Special Debut: Our Homecoming 2014 TV Ad!

Did you catch the Mid Season Finale of Pretty Little Liars Season 5 last week? It was such an intense ending to such a great TV series, and we can't believe we are now on hiatus until December to follow the Pretty Little Liars girls further down the rabbit hole! But, the mid season finale wasn't the only reason we were excited to watch Episode 12, "Taking This One To the Grave" of PLL at Rissy Roo's. It was also the debut of our Homecoming 2014 ad, which debuted for our local Roo Girls in the Atlantic, Cape May, and Gloucester Counties in New Jersey and included a special promo.

Now that Labor Day has passed, and it's officially Homecoming 2014 season, we want to share the TV ad with you, in case you are a local Roo Girl that missed the finale, or one of our national...or international Roo Girls! While the ad will be running for our local Roo Girls on ABC Family and MTV through the week before Thanksgiving, you can not watch the ad right here! Check it out:

We hope you love it, and that it inspires you to find your perfect Homecoming dress for your upcoming back to school dance! Just like the ad says, whether you want classic or casual, long or short, we are happy to help you find your perfect casual, semi-formal, or formal dress from our large selection of top dress designers, including Sherri Hill, Blush, La Femme, and many more. We have even added a new dress designer this year: Rachel Allan! So, feel free to contact us with any questions that you may have.

  • Our Favorite Google Easter Eggs to Celebrate Easter!

Happy Easter Sunday to all of our Roo Girls! To celebrate, we did a little Easter Egg hunting...but not with the traditional Easter colorful eggs! Our Easter Egg Hunter was online with Google! Did you know that Google has created a bunch of "Easter Eggs" that you can search for online?

If you're new to the concept of "Easter Eggs" in the media, they are an intentional inside joke, feature, or hidden message. Over the years, Google has created their own "Easter Eggs" that are so fun to search for...and even play with! Check out the image below for our favorite Google Easter Eggs and start searching for some Easter fun!

    Google Easter Eggs 2014

And, here's our Google Easter Eggs list in text form to make the searching a little easier (you can just copy and past the terms into Google and hit "search!"):

    1. Type any actor's name followed by "bacon number" and Google will give you the "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" value.
    2. Search for "askew" or "tilt" using Google and the search result will be displayed on an angle.
    3. Searching for "do a barrel roll" will cause the search result to rotate 360 degrees when displaying.
    4. Doing a Google Image Search for the term "Atari Breakout" will launch a playable version of Breakout.
    5. Searching for "Festivus" places a Festivus pole in the left side of the window.
    6. Searching for "Google Pacman" leads to a playable version of the game. Inserting 2 coins adds Ms. Pacman to the game for a 2 player version.
    7. And, of course, search for "RissyRoos.com" and find the best site for authentic designer dresses at guaranteed low prices!

And, don't forget - we have our very own Rissy Roo's Easter Egg this year: in our Easter Weekend Sale, you can get free lip gloss and a garment bag with your dress purchase! Just use promo code EASTERGIRL at checkout. The deal ends today, so get shopping!

  • ** Trend Alert ** Prints Part I: Spotted!

Open a fashion magazine lately? If you're reading this blog, I'd assume you have and if you took the time to flip through it, I'd assume you came across a page dedicated to Animal Prints.  Animal prints have gained momentum in our wardrobes. First we started with one piece, maybe a cardigan or a tank top. Next came Animal Prints in our jewelry and handbags, followed by shoes and now larger pieces like jackets and dresses. It is only right that we mention that this includes prom dresses.

Many people assume that most Animal Prints are leopard.  This is an easy error and leopard, without a doubt, has been the most popular, but leopard, jaguar and cheetah are all similar to each other as you can see below.  The three are so similar and common that many of us assume one as the other. The chart below can help you to distinguish the difference in prints. Other popular prints this season include tiger, zebra and giraffe.

Prom dress designers are jumping at the chance to use Animal Prints in their designs for Spring 2011. From the subtle hint of the print to the obvious and daring full print, Animal Prints are in this Prom. Check out a few of my favorite, "standard" Animal Print dresses... Continue reading
